Template — review with a lawyer before publishing

This policy is a starting template. It covers the most common cases for a content site that collects email addresses, but it is not legal advice. Before launching 3conomics.com to the public, have a qualified attorney review and customize this document for your jurisdiction (especially if you plan to serve EU, UK, or California residents).

1. Who we are

3conomics ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at 3conomics.com and publishes The 3conomics Weekly newsletter. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at contact@3conomics.com.

2. What we collect

We collect information in two ways:

Information you give us

  • Email address — when you subscribe to our newsletter or request a free download (lead magnet).
  • Messages you send us — if you reply to a newsletter or email us directly, we retain the content of that message so we can respond.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, referring sites, device type, approximate location (country/region), and browser type. This is collected in aggregate via privacy-respecting analytics and cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Log data — our hosting provider keeps basic access logs (IP address, timestamp, request path) for security and abuse-prevention purposes.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver The 3conomics Weekly and any requested lead magnets to your inbox.
  • Improve our content based on what topics readers find useful.
  • Respond to your questions and feedback.
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the site.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Who we share it with

We share data only with trusted service providers that help us run 3conomics:

  • Email service provider — [Beehiiv / Substack / other] handles delivery of our newsletter. Your email is stored with them under their own privacy terms.
  • Hosting provider — [Netlify / Cloudflare / other] hosts the website and may see basic access logs.
  • Analytics provider — [Plausible / Cloudflare / other] measures aggregate traffic without using personal identifiers or cross-site cookies.

Each of these services processes data on our behalf under their own privacy and security standards.

5. Cookies and tracking

3conomics.com uses only essential browser storage — for example, to remember that you've already seen our newsletter sign-up prompt or confirmed your subscription. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or fingerprinting techniques.

Our analytics provider is configured to respect your privacy: it does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and is GDPR-compatible out of the box.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

  • Access — you can ask us what data we hold about you.
  • Correction — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — you can ask us to delete your data (note: unsubscribing from the newsletter removes your email from our active list).
  • Portability — you can ask us to export the data we hold about you.
  • Objection — you can object to how we're using your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@3conomics.com. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of any email — we'll remove you from the list immediately.

7. Data retention

We keep your email address on our newsletter list for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email is removed from the active list and retained only in suppression records (to prevent accidental re-subscription) in accordance with our email service provider's policies.

Aggregate analytics data is retained indefinitely because it cannot be traced back to an individual.

8. International transfers

3conomics operates globally. If you subscribe to the newsletter from outside the country where our service providers are based (typically the United States), your data will be transferred across borders. We rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses and other legal mechanisms to protect your information during transfer.

9. Children

3conomics is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in some jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced via the newsletter so you have an opportunity to review.

11. Contact

Questions, concerns, or requests about your data? Email contact@3conomics.com and we'll respond within a few business days.

Still a prototype

3conomics is in development. Placeholder contact addresses and service-provider names should be replaced with real values before this policy goes live.
